Engineered Stone

Advantages

  • A wide selection of light and neutral tones
  • Sleek, minimalistic patterns with consistent slab appearance
  • Non-porous, stain-resistant, and easy to clean—no sealing required

Engineered stone is made up of approximately 93% natural quartz, with binding agents and pigments enhancing its structure. Quartz is one of the hardest minerals in nature, giving engineered stone its exceptional durability and resistance to wear.

During manufacturing, the stone is compressed, baked, and polished to create a smooth, non-porous surface that requires no additional sealing—making it an ideal low-maintenance choice for busy kitchens.

At StoneCo, we work with 20mm and 30mm engineered stone slabs. If a thicker benchtop look is desired, we mitre 20mm slabs to achieve any custom thickness. For quality reasons, we do not work with slabs thinner than 20mm.

Granite Benchtops

  • Available in 30mm thickness, with some colours in 20mm

  • Can be mitred to achieve a thicker, more substantial look

  • Exceptionally durable and long-lasting

Granite is a natural stone formed over millions of years from magma that has cooled and solidified beneath the Earth's surface. Mined in large blocks, it is cut into slabs using diamond wire or saw blades before being polished on one side and shipped to fabricators like StoneCo for precision craftsmanship.

Unlike engineered stone, granite is porous, meaning it can absorb liquids and bacteria if left unsealed. To protect its surface, a high-quality sealant is applied—similar to waxing a car. With proper care, this sealant lasts 5-8 years on most granite benchtops, though softer granites may require more frequent sealing.

Granite benchtops combine natural beauty with robust durability, making them a stunning and practical choice for any kitchen.

Porcelain Stone

  • Non-porous, stain-resistant, and never requires sealing
  • Handles high temperatures with ease
  • Available in ultra-slim 12mm, standard 20mm, or mitred for a 40-80mm look
  • Choose from realistic stone-look designs or minimalist monotones
  • Select colours are available in a leathered finish for added depth and character

Porcelain, also known as Ultra Compact Surfaces, is a cutting-edge material introduced in the mid-2010s. Advancements in manufacturing technology have enabled the production of large-format porcelain slabs (up to 3.2m x 1.6m), similar in scale to engineered stone and granit.

These slabs are compressed into a uniform base before a highly durable printed surface is applied. This allows for stunningly realistic marble and granite designs on a thin, non-porous, and incredibly hard-wearing surface.

Porcelain benchtops offer the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and timeless beauty, making them a top choice for contemporary kitchens.
